Information about upcoming activity at the Institute is sent out two ways:
The weekly mailing to departments: Each week, a list of the next week's events is sent to mathematical science departments at universities in and around Toronto (see below for details). A copy is also sent to the Fields e-mail address of any Fields Institute member during the time of their visit here.
The mailing list: We maintain a mailing list to which any individual can subscribe. Subscribers receive a monthly summary of upcoming activity for an entire month at a time, and can also opt to receive more targeted announcements in particular areas of interest. Also, mailings are archived and available for viewing on the web by subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
The weekly mailing is not copied to the mailing list, so local department members can safely subscribe to the mailing list too, without getting duplicate messages. (However it is unavoidable that anyone cross-appointed to two local departments, or a member at both a local department and the Institute, may get the weekly mailing twice, once at each place.)
E-mail address:
Usually departments give us access to an "all faculty and students" e-mail address which expands to all department members; occasionally, they instead give us the addresses of some designated individuals who have agreed to forward the mailing to everyone else. We do not directly control who ends up receiving the mailing. To alter or cancel the address(es) we use to send these weekly mailings to your department, or to request that we start sending them if we are not doing so, please have your departmental administrator contact weeklymailing@fields.utoronto.ca.
